Future or Fail? The Dove Awards Relocate to Atlanta from Nashville

You may have seen on the Christian sites or heard in the Nashville Starbuck’s conversations. Either way, the news is here and there’s no denying it!

The Dove Award’s (aka the big deal Gospel/Christian music awards) is moving to Atlanta, Georgia after 41 successful years in Nashville, Tennessee.

If you’ve been following entertainment news lately, you may have noticed that many people have dubbed Atlanta as “The New Hollywood” and for years it’s been “The Hip-Hop Capital of the World” because of it’s Urban roots. But is it really a good idea to host the Dove’s in the southern city?

Aaron Shust, Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, Canton Jones, Third Day and Francesca Battistelli are just a few of the Christian performers from and currently residing in Atlanta. (It’s even rumored that Justin Bieber, who got his start singing Jennifer Knapp covers online, has a home in “Da ATL”).

Atlanta, Georgia is also home to one of Christian music’s biggest yearly events: Atlanta Fest. So… is this a good idea?

Let us know what you think and why!!

Should the Dove’s have stayed in Nashville? Or is Atlanta and up-coming city that should be recognized? Is there a third option that we’re not thinking of?

PS (from the article linked above): “We Atlantans are so happy to welcome the Dove Awards to Atlanta this year,” remarked 16-time Dove Award winner and platinum selling artist Chris Tomlin (above). ”How exciting to celebrate and share a night together honoring God in a city I have come to know and love.”
